The program began in 1982 with a limited number of bars struck by the Medallic Arts company. In 1984, the program continued under the trade name Liberty Trade Silver. Engelhard, Johnson Matthey, and the Mexican mint were tasked with producing a variety of silver bullion bars and rounds in various sizes. The featured 1 oz silver bar was struck in .999 fine silver. The obverse features a full-length depiction of Lady Liberty. The reverse features a repeating pattern of the MTB logo along with a unique serial number and coveted “MA” privy mark.
